Outliers is a single-player journaling game in which you play a research assistant trying to do their job in an absurd environment. Recruit participants, collect data, and perform miscellaneous tasks around the lab before  the study runs out of funds. Keeping your job shouldn’t be hard when your participants are clones, time travelers, and cryptids . . . right?

The following materials are needed to play Outliers:

  • A notebook, or another way to journal
  • A standard deck of playing cards
  • A six-sided die (d6)
  • 10 tokens
  • A tumbling block tower (optional but recommended)

Outliers uses the Wretched & Alone system, based on The Wretched by Chris Bissette.

Outliers was a winner in The Awards 2023, a panel-judged awards ceremony.

Note:– The "demo" is a set of print-and-play assets unlocked during our Kickstarter pre-campaign. This includes:

  • Filing cabinet standees (card miniatures)
  • Lab money for use in the game in place of a tumbling block tower
  • Lab notebook covers to stick to the front of your journal
  • Round stickers for making your own tokens

Backed during the crowdfunding campaign, looking forward to playing it!

Just got my print copy in the mail and I'm SO STOKED

I’m super excited to play this as soon as finals wrap up here! Quick question: how many blocks should be in the tower to begin with?

Sorry for the late response. I think a standard Jenga tower is 54 blocks! If you play with fewer, the game will be shorter!

How many pages is the pdf? Also 28?

Also, do you plan on translating this gem into different languages? :D

(+1)

Sorry for the late response! The PDF is 24 content pages plus front and back cover, so, 24+2.

We don’t do in-house translation at FHC because we don’t have the expertise. If we’re approached by third-party translators, then we work with them to get the work to new language markets. If you have any contacts you can send them our way!

Thanks!

Ah, I don't unfortunately, it would just be super cool for this to reach wider audiences! ^-^

Hi. Would it be possible to get a community copy? No worries if not. This looks really cool though

Hi Chezmarie,

We’re currently crowdfunding for a print run, which includes people donating community copies. They’ll be refilled once that’s resolved!

Conspiracies? Anomalies? Eldritch horror? And the greatest, oldest evil of all - Bureaucracy?! Yes, please, inject this straight into my bloodstream. (BTW, I see you, Bill Cipher, you're not getting me this time.)

Thanks so much for your comment Axiom Delver - can we use it as a public testimonial? If so, how should we credit you?

(+1)

Of course, please use it. As for crediting me, just the name "Axiom Delver" should be enough, I don't have a big platform (working on it, though). Unless you have a preferred way to give credit? I haven't been asked for permission before, not sure what info is needed :)
